The South Australian Bar Association is an association of independent barristers based in South Australia providing legal representation and assistance to the community.

The Association is responsible for the registration and regulation of our barrister members and for the maintenance of professional standards and discipline within the Bar.

Become a Member

To become an Ordinary Member of the Bar Association you must hold an unrestricted South Australian Practising Certificate, undertake to practice exclusively as a barrister and have successfully completed the “Bar Readers Course”.  The BRC is a practical training course for barristers who wish to join the Independent Referral Bar in South Australia and includes a period of mentorship with experienced barristers.  Graduated Bar Readers are eligible to sign the Bar Roll.
