NEW SABA PRESIDENT SABA is pleased to announce that Marie Shaw QC is its new President as from 11 August 2022. Mrs Shaw QC was admitted in March 1976, joined the Independent Bar in 1985 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1996. She has provided counsel work for the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement, been part-time Commissioner of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (Commonwealth), a Member of the Board of Examiners for admission to Legal Practice in South Australia and Chief Counsel for the Legal Services Commission of South Australia. Between 2005 and 2010 Mrs Shaw was a Judge of the District Court of South Australia. Since returning to the Bar, she has specialised in criminal law and is Head of Frank Moran Chambers. She is also founder of the Ice Factor program for at-risk and disengaged youth.
